A few years ago, on this same web site they were kind enough to publish an article that I wrote for a Father’s Day, where I referred to how wrong it is, from my point of view, the popular saying that says “… there is only one mother, father can be anyone …”, a saying that I still do not understand like I admitted it on that occasion.
But today I will not refer to that, no, I will only refer to that day, last June 20th when Cuba received the news that the vaccine candidate Soberana 02 achieved an efficacy of 62 percent with two doses, and even more when the next day it was announced that Abdala, as we already know, another of our candidates, obtained 92.28 percent efficacy with his three doses.
And much more to know in later days that Soberana 02 will reach superior percent of efficacy with its three doses! Undoubtedly a hopeful gift … What a great gift for Cuban parents! What kind of gift for the world!
Yes, because although with the great limitations of not having been able to celebrate as they deserve, or perhaps not even a kiss, in many cases, this surprise was the best that this small but giant country has been able to offer its children recently.
We always got our hopes up, dreaming that they would become vaccines as well, but what many did not know was that the date was coming. A date where we could show the world this deserved triumph for our scientists and researchers, who saw their ideas put into practice, which will manage to immunize millions of human beings wherever they are from, whatever nationality they have, wherever they are.
We all make up the human race and that is why in our arms we will once again display that mark that we coined against diseases since we were little; this will not be one more, because with it we will contribute to save the planet from this horrible nightmare that today is taking so many innocent lives.
LONGING AND TRUST…
This achievement is already in the arms of many, and soon, many more will be beneficiaries of such an important legacy, that is what it is about, not only a simple injection, but a whole effort and wisdom that we will carry in our bodies forever.
Let this be, then, a simple, but heartfelt tribute to those men of science, for giving in such a short time this gift to humanity, and to those parents who this year could taste, perhaps, without a cake, but with a breath of confidence the gift received.
