Values have always been the currency of valuable and enriching projects that encourage the human being to be better.
And I affirm this because I have had the pleasure of being part of many, among which are; more recently those belonging to the Office of the Historian of the city, a place where I worked for more than fifteen years and to which I owe knowledge and commitment from the bottom of my heart.
Remembering
There I had the possibility, first, of forming a group that deals with something as beautiful as it is, and as I usually say: “… the most cultural of the institution …”, seeing the issue from the narrow, very narrow of the meaning of the word culture, of course; But I say it like this to differentiate the other functions present in the institution, which have a more constructive and even strategic character.
Then the creation of public spaces, institutions, all defending and taking care of protecting and preserving the heritage, that which we all must and have the obligation to maintain for those of us who inhabit this city today and those who will come in the future.
Someone might say: well, what does this have to do with values? Well, it does have a lot to do with it, because, there in that institution, the human resource, the man, it is the most important thing, his well-being, concern for his problems, for his needs, and trying to be by his side accompanying him at times most complicated and difficult in life.
I say this from my own experience, since there were not few complex moments that I had to live, as well as collaborating with some workers who needed us.
Validity of values
For that reason, and just a few days ago, listening to the much loved and usually listened Radio Enciclopedia station, they mentioned a phrase of that great philosopher, Sophocles when he said: “Prudence is the basis of happiness”, and then came to my mind so many happy moments I lived there, in my institution, which has always been prudent, judicious, sensible, and although I no longer work day by day in it, it continues to be that place to which I reserve a special place in my heart.
