Magalys Cordero Rodríguez is one of those women who between knowledge and good treatment earn admiration; without having seen her before.

Personal issues brought me closer to the Microbiology laboratory of the Maternity Hospital of Camagüey, and thus I had the happiness of meeting the doctor of II degree specialized in Microbiology, Master in infectious diseases, assistant professor and prepared woman.

In a pleasant conversation I was able to learn that she graduated as a doctor in 1993 and directly entered the specialty of Microbiology.

“There were 4 years of studies to then fulfill social service in Guáimaro and from the year 2000 I started working at the Maternity Hospital as the laboratory director from that year until 2019.

Entering an exciting area within medicine, I learned why I chose it.

“The most complex thing in this area is that this specialty includes administration; But when I graduated as a doctor, I always liked it a lot because during the second year of the degree, a subject called Biological Agent is received and Microbiology is briefly touched on it; extremely important issue that we can realize the world is currently suffering from; since many diseases are caused by germs that cause infections in man.”

We also talked about Magalys’ experiences in this hospital center

For specialists in the field of medicine, anecdotes always accompany them and Magalys is not exempt from them

Family and Magalys

“I consider it to be a fundamental element, because I have always had the support of my father and mother, pillars of my family, and thanks to them I have been able to do these tasks. My mother has collaborated a lot in the formation of my son, who is already 22 years old; I was also able to carry out an international mission in Gambia for 3 years, thanks to their dedication and care. ”

We must always talk about challenges and to close this unforgettable meeting in the month in which a day is dedicated to health professionals, this devoted woman tells us:

“Now I have more time to dedicate to teaching, research; because the leadership absorbs you a bit and these things that I like so much are being left out, I will always be there for the medicine and the patients because both are my life. ”
