Now that we are almost saying goodbye to the year, it is a good time to thank those who reached out from the solidarity manifested in this difficult period due to COVID-19.
The measures adopted to confront the pandemic made a call to stay at home; however, many had to stay in their jobs while leaving their children or an elderly person at home. Concern was the shared experience of a new disease that radically changed the way we live in society.
The constant handwashing and masks became an inviolable priority as life was limited to the point that kisses and highs were alien to us and they gave in to reserved greetings that, although they are part of the norms to take care of our health, they do not have much to do with the idiosyncrasy of the Cuban.
On this road to the unknown, a lot of solidarity paradigms can be mentioned: private drivers put transport at the service of a sick person or transport of medicines and donations that different groups organized to deliver in other provinces.
There is also the page on Facebook where the community provided medicine for free and the people who worked in the red zone of the hospitals and the campaigns established for the treatment of the convalescent.
There are stories in many workplaces. In the Office of the Historian of Camagüey city, for example, the group participated actively in the investigations and distribution of food to vulnerable people, in the St. John of God Popular Council of Camagüey city.
In addition, the drivers of the cultural institution guaranteed the insurance and safe transportation of medicines and Office personnel.
And so, the city keeps in every corner a story where life is the most important thing, where helping above any discrepancy and prejudice, was one of the greatest teachings of this year that is coming to an end.
