Within the XV National Symposium Challenges in the Management and Administration of Cities, which opened its doors this morning, the First Communication Workshop of the network of Offices of the Historian and Conservator of Cuba took place.

Chaired by Magda Resik, communication director of the Office of the Historian of Havana, the meeting was aimed at detecting weaknesses in the territories that hinder the work of raising awareness with the care of heritage.

The workshop

It was a different space, unusual, the participants seated in the shape of a crescent, we introduced ourselves one by one to visualize our work face to face, which included journalists, communicators, civil engineers, architects, psychologists, broadcasters and other related specialties to the safeguarding of heritage, both material and spiritual.

After meeting, Magda asked why it is important to communicate heritage, the answers revolved around a central premise: you cannot defend or preserve what is not known, therefore, the territories must defend and know the values they treasure, only in this way they can be defenders of general and universal values.

To achieve this, a lot of love and passion for communicative work must prevail and that takes work and commitment, but it is not an easy path or a bed of roses, in the walk you always run into detractors, material difficulties and lack of support, but virtue it is not about lamenting, but about persisting. In the end, we always manage to add voices that, like us, are interested in disseminating everything that is worth and must be saved.

Another strength is that of supporting each other as a great family, the most advantaged groups and cities must share their knowledge and spaces with the least advanced, to achieve a horizontal path that pays tribute to one thing: defending Cuban heritage.

The hosts

The OHCC communication group, as the venue for the event, invited the participants to a tour of our facilities, which will take place tomorrow afternoon, to show the spaces achieved to date, in a task that took years of waiting and a lot of effort, but it is recognized by its presence in most media, both traditional and modern.

Audiovisuales Príncipe and the website of the Office of the Historian of Camagüey are, after the Office of Havana, the most complete, a reality that makes us proud, because behind each report, there is the effort of a team of professionals, dedicated to the exciting mission of sensitizing the receiver with the heartbeat of this half-millennial city and its people.

At the end

After sharing and learning about the realities of our fellow companions, in the different heritage cities, the call to not falter in creativity, to search for and win new spaces, to defend, through the communication of heritage, everything that unites and at the same time makes us unique and different.

The persistence and support between the territories will open our way, a close example of perseverance was without a doubt our Eusebio Leal, who until the last minute of existence put his energies into defending each work of the Capital and today inspires us from eternity to continue defending the greatness of our identity.
