Among dissimilar aesthetic trends that dialogue between ballet, plastic arts, dramatic arts, the Vicentina de la Torre Academy in Camagüey stands out. This institution bases creative processes for more than 5 decades at the service of the country and beyond the seas as well.

The theoretical thought, the systematicity of the cultural policy consistent with the preservation of the nation’s heritage and cultural identity dignify this School, a melting pot of plural arts.

The Academy is institutionalized by the National Council of Culture in 1967, however, the educational, cultural, and humanist performance is also heir to the performance of multiple intellectuals and promoters of culture in the associationist sphere throughout the republic.

Outstanding pedagogues, artists, writers, passionate… left an unavoidable legacy that, in the new conditions of social change, the massification of culture in its multiple expressions, together with the graduates of national schools incorporated as teachers, cemented the solidity that characterizes the Academy.

Where is it located? What does it promise?

In 1967, the National Council of Culture converted the left wing of the Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz Provincial Museum, into the Academy, located at Ignacio Sánchez Street No. 406 between Martyrs Avenue and Joaquín de Agüero Street, La Vigía neighborhood, in Camagüey city.

This reservoir space and diffuser of spiritualities systematizes cultural thought through Ballet, Plastic Arts and Dramatic Arts. Students from all over Cuba, from Spain, Mexico, among other countries, find in the Vicentina the appropriate home to tune in and vibrate with their muses.

Achievements

The Vicentina de la Torre Academy of Arts is a wonder of elementary level education in the country. The artists of the different branches of art are the same teachers who provide the tools to their disciples to create.

Ballet students have achieved Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals in international competitions to praise the work of the institution.
