During the Covid-19 pandemic, reading was a faithful friend to resist the long days of isolation. After two years of absence, with its invitation to immerse ourselves in new worlds, the XXX Book Fair arrived at the City of the Waterpots.
This week’s persistent rain decimated the influx of the public a little, but lovers of the printed word do not care about water, especially when the students were the majority to enjoy this party, which brought together all the artistic manifestations among its sugestions.
Acana at the Fair
If something makes lovers of letters proud, it is our Ácana publishing house, which this year, as in the last, brought its novelties.
Among its main attractions were the mini storybooks accompanied by pastimes, puzzles, bookmarks, didactic games and other materials for children’s education, in addition to the presentation of the text: Chronicles of a small town, by Pedro Junco from Camagüey.
La Carpa de la Reina, as a space dedicated to young creators, hosted the work of the Havana guest Barbarela Acevedo, with her erotic stories titled: The Triumph of Eros: stories to fight the plague; in a sensual and contemporary way, it proposes current stories that can happen to anyone and anywhere.
Proposals for higher education students, who made their presence known in the different spaces of the Casino Campestre, where the main attractions of the XXX Literature Festival were found. Varieties of titles and prices put readers to choose.
Paths in the Fair
El Lugareño publishing house, belonging to the Office of the Historian of Camagüey city (OHCC), from La Mayor alley, in the Agramonte park, set up its stand to bring us closer to its various publications related to historical issues.
Various presentations brought to light texts such as: Ignacio Agramonte and the combat of Jimaguayú, The revolutionary direction of the 10-year war and the special promotion of Senderos magazine, in digital format, corresponding to numbers 23 and 24. The first dedicated to the historian Elda Cento and the 24th to Ignacio Agramonte. Both publications are on the official website of the OHCC, to download for free.
A Closing Ceremony with Umbrellas
The weather conditions, which this May brings us with persistent rain, did not diminish the desire of Camagüey’s readers to go to the Casino, either with an umbrella or after the rain, so as not to miss the great gift that was without a doubt, the XXX International Book Fair.
