One of the busiest weeks of Audiovisuales Príncipe this summer was undoubtedly from August 15th to 19th. The children and adolescents of the “Communicating Heritage” workshop not only took our studio, they went to the streets, they took our cameras, microphones and even our hearts.

For five days, these Camagüeyans from 9 to 15 years old, did not stop asking questions about photography, editing, musicalization, locution and about the history of our historic center.

It was difficult to follow their rhythm of questions, cellphone in hand between jokes and pranks, they needed a whole team of teachers to teach them the basic techniques of photography so that from that moment on their mobile would become their professional camera and their snapshots, artworks.

Write your text with direct, simple language; articulate, maintain rhythm and proper tone; learning how to properly speak using a microphone and the role of music in audiovisual material took them one morning at Radio Príncipe, but the material was ready for the final process.

Using the new technologies available in the intelligent classroom of the headquarters of the Office of the Historian of Camagüey city (OHCC), the workshop participants edited, through an application, the videos that are already published on the Facebook profile of the OHCC.

According to Sandra, one of the participants, the workshop helped her to relate to other young people, to be calm when she has to speak in front of an audience; better appreciate a photograph, a radio or television program and, above all, it was very useful for him to learn about the history of her city.

From now on, these workshop participants will form part of the “Communicating Heritage” group. They will initiate the youth program that the Audiovisuales Principe collective has dreamed of for so long. It will be good to see them again in our studios, stirring everything up, asking each detail and making us laugh with that sense of humor that captivates us.
