The building, adjacent to the central Ignacio Agramonte Park, belonged to the Betancourt family since the beginning of the 19th century. In 1881 changes were made to its façade, and it currently houses one of the most prestigious cultural institutions in the territory.

In 1914 it became the Casa Cabaña musical instrument store, until August 17th, 1973, the date on which it changed its former function to Patricio Ballagas Palacios Trova House, in fair recognition of the outstanding troubadour from Camagüey.

Its facade of great architectural and environmental value shows us the introduction of stylistic transformations of neoclassical affiliation in the traditional colonial repertoire; evidenced in the use of pilasters distributed throughout the façade, in the wide openings with lintels with panel windows with baroque motifs and iron bars, and in the cornice and the smooth parapet on which it culminates.

In the main hall we find a majestic multi-lobed arch of Baroque influence and a truss roof, a legacy of the Mudejar tradition. The patio today constitutes the most attractive element of the house, because in addition to recreating the colonial atmosphere, in it you can enjoy the good traditional music of the old and new Cuban trova.
