If we ask Alain Hidalgo Burgo to define the group of the Heritage Interpretation Center, he tells us that every day its members give a lot of love to the public.
The project, which he started with some quadrants of the model of the Historic Center of Camagüey city, has been growing in these years, to win a special place in the heart of the town.
Alain is the father of the Hidalgo – Alanín family, which for three years has been the winner in the summer, as the most faithful participant in the various activities proposed by the Office of the Historian in the summer period. They are regulars at the Interpretation Center, of which they are already part.
In an informal meeting, sitting in the room where the model is located, I managed to exchange with the four members of that happy family, to know what they think about this beautiful project.
The children
The specialist Mauren González is very loved by all the members of the aforementioned family. Her sweetness with the children is rewarded with the trust that they profess in her, that is why she is the mediator for our conversation.
Immediately, Kalec -the oldest of the children- breaks the ice; and very sure of his words, with a strong voice that demonstrates his closeness to the stage of adolescence, he confesses that this place is wonderful.
He enjoys creating models. For this reason, his work last summer, created from recycled materials, was an old house in the colonial city. The youngster is also passionate about historical route tours; however, it is not Architecture that he hopes to study, but Veterinary, because he loves animals and nature.
During our dialogue, he congratulates the group of which he already feels part, and confesses his desire to continue together with them for many summers.
Little Zalec did not want to speak; but when mentioning the clowns Cebollita and Florecita and the young Maquetina to her friends, her eyes shine, and she whispers that vacations at the Heritage Interpretation Center are very fun.
The parents’ opinion
Together with her children, Irina Alanín enjoys scheduled trips. Among them, the one on the train is her favorite. She highly flatters the idea of including the “Pasos con payasos” space in the tours, as well as a visit to a square or a building, and closing with a walk through the Botanical Garden or the Country Casino. It is a creative way of educating on the subject of heritage values, Irina believes.
Since three years ago they discovered this type of proposal from the Historian’s Office as a family, the children prefer to enjoy their vacations with the members of the Model group; where they enjoy, and at the same time learn.
For his part, the father summarizes: “Our family feels very welcome here. We are part of this group, we have a nice friendship with everyone, because their good treatment and professional preparation distinguishes them.
Not only my children, all the children who come to these activities learn and discover the treasures of our beloved city. I think it is better not to mention the names of the experts. In general, they all have a place in our hearts, because their dedication makes us fall in love”.
After telling you about the look of a family at the Model of the Historic Center of Camagüey city, it only remains for me to join the good wishes of all the followers of this important institution, which has conquered the Camagüeyan public with its work and dedication.
