The morning started hot and busy, after five months of waiting we returned to the classrooms. These five months that we battled against the pandemic, added to the scarves, uniforms and books; surgical masks, disinfection protocols and social distancing, which along with the previous ones will open the way to knowledge.

The children and young people, after a long break from their school activities, from friends and from everything that was normal before the month of March, return to conclude the 2019-2020 school year.

While the students are expectant, happy and wearing their uniforms like the first time, parents remain prudent; and the teachers more dedicated than ever. Waiting for everyone, as in any important work, to do their part, so that classes renew the path between the shortcuts of Covid-19; and life in Cuba will resume its rhythm.

In a different school

For the management and educators of the school of children with autism spectrum disorder, Héroes del Moncada, the task is a challenge. Her director, confident of having the correct personnel, knows that her little ones are protected and that the vigilance will be extreme, to prevent any of them from getting sick.

Even to the classroom, keeping the distance and with the necessary hygiene, came the lens of our photographer, José A. Cortiñas Friman, who was able to immortalize a Spanish Language class, where the infants were attentive; while their eyes stood out from the surgical mask the desire to learn multiplying, the curiosity that for 5 months kept them away from this, their second home.

It is a different school, but the measures are the same for all, in which learning and hygiene shake hands.

In the City of the Waterpots, students returned to the classrooms, the bustle and joy permeated the air, the morning was filled with colors and the streets overflowed, the school year has restarted and life began to run.
