“Let the railway of Nuevitas be made and the Sun will not deny me its divine light, I assure you.” This is what Gaspar Cisneros Betancourt, El Lugareño, said about the necessity for a railway construction. Thanks to his efforts, The Camagüey Railway was the seventh in the country to become operational, and with this, a long railway tradition began in our city.

Rescuing and disseminating the value system of the railway in Camagüey is the most important mission of the Railway Museum, a project of the Historian’s Office that won the 2018 Excellency Award.

The Railway Museum Boulevard, located between the Railway Museum and the Plaza Hotel

That particular place was turned into a Museum for being the main railway center of the city and where the first Camagüey Station was located.

Locomotive Theme Park, a trip to the past of the Camagüey railway.

General view of the locomotives, exhibition site for the history and preservation of the railway.

The Clock Inspection Room, one of the most attractive and useful exhibition rooms according to the public.

The Railway Station had received an extensive reparation to improve its functionality and aesthetics.

The room or “station” with the most exquisite finish is the Model of the Hatuey Little Train.

The Railway Museum will make use of the most modern museum techniques, generating an interactive space for learning and rescuing values and traditions.
