Every December 14th, the day of the cultural worker is celebrated in Cuba, in honor of the patriot Raúl Gómez García, the poet of the Centennial generation that participated in the assault on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks on July 26th, 1953.
As guarantors or facilitators of the multiple forms of expression of culture in our nation, there are institutions, researchers, artists, technicians and service personnel who fight to vindicate the role of culture in society.
An example of this is the Office of the Historian of Camagüey city and the different cultural projects that it develops in favor of the people of Camagüey, with the purpose of exalt the common heritage and identity.
The Cultural Management Center, the Concert Hall, the Camagüey Heritage City Interpretation Center, the Fidelio Ponce de León gallery, the Railway Museum and the House of Cultural Diversity; they are just examples of institutions attached to the Office of the Historian and that are dedicated, almost entirely, to disseminating the art, history and traditions of Camagüey.
In addition, projects such as Rumba y Punto and the Artisctic Group Arlequín are active promoters of the different artistic manifestations in the city of the waterpots and are in charge of working with the new generations. Other tasks, such as the restoration of places and buildings, also assume the integrating and essential vision that turns us into a phenomenon.
Behind the scenes there is a large group of men and women who live by and for our culture. They have an avant-garde role in today’s Cuba; along with the prominence and integrity of those who built, over time, our most genuine roots.
