Tribute to Santa María del Puerto del Príncipe

As part of the celebrations for the 507th anniversary of the former town of Santa María del Puerto del Príncipe on February 2nd, the Office of the Historian of Camagüey city has prepared a cultural program to be broadcast on digital platforms. Taking into account the current epidemiological situation in the city, the festive activities that are held every year during Culture Week, this time are enjoyed from social networks.

On February 1st, the program starts with an interesting panel about Camagüey traditions at the Santa Cecilia Convention Center. Dr. Kezia S. Henry will have as guests the journalist Eduardo Labrada Rodríguez, Dr. Henry Mazorra Acosta and the researcher Fernado Crespo Baró.

Another special moment is reserved for day 2 in the morning, as the Fulgencio Arambúla Public Alarife Award will be delivered, whose ceremony will also reach the public through an online transmission.

From the José Marín Varona Concert Hall, from February 1st to 6th, always at 2:30 p.m., you can enjoy excellent live performances by groups such as the Provincial Choir, the Vocal Desandan group, the Dalmau Trio, the Chamber Orchestra, La Unión quartet and the A piacere duo

As usual in our program, the space for visual arts exhibitions is maintained, but this time virtually.

The Fidelio Ponce Gallery will host on the 2nd at 4 pm, the Inauguration of the personal exhibition “Vision”, by the plastic artist Osvaldo Rodríguez Petit. The same will happen at the House of Cultural Diversity at the same time, but on the 4th, where you can visit the Exhibition of the artist Marta Jiménez Pérez, named “Tasting”.

In addition to live broadcasts, concerts and exhibitions, work and other activities related to the anniversary of the city will be published on our website.

Special invitation comes from the Finlay House, for the publication of the book on Ulises Sosa Salinas: testimonies of his life through the project “Health and Life” with natural and traditional medicine based on Orthopedics; this book presentation will take place on the 3rd at 10 in the morning.

In addition, thanks to the collaboration of colleagues from the Provincial Culture Directorate, the Young Computer Club, ETECSA and the Provincial Government, through their institutional profiles on Facebook they will echo our transmissions.
