A new anniversary of the Office of the Historian of the city of Camagüey is about to come. Much work has been done in these 24 years, but as our director says over and over again: “The Office works for the common good of a preserved city and its public spaces, but it cannot do it alone.”

Citizen education and communication of heritage are the best tools to make so many accumulated values endure over time. With it, we add voices and hands to the conservation and commitment to this beautiful heritage.

That is why it is worth making a pause and talking about those who are in charge of disclosing how the works of the institution are progressing, disseminating all its cultural spaces and bringing the residents closer to their stories and personalities. Let’s get closer to the OHCC Communication group.

Communication Group

Made up of various specialists, the department has grown and modified its structure according to the needs and possibilities of venturing into new media.

However, what started as a Public Relations group, it already has communicators, disseminators, journalists, announcers, sound producers, a webmaster, a photographer and a cameramen, all under the guidance of Mailet Padilla, founder and today department head.

Focused on organizing campaigns, investigations and journalistic work in various media and formats, the educational work of the Office is visualized, while we learn to enjoy a beautiful city that appeals to everyone.

A look inside

The many events that the OHCC promotes and organizes always involve propaganda materials, their design and creation are born in this group, where everyone gives his opinion, suggestions and contributes with creative ideas.

This year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Symposium Challenges in the Management and Administration of Cities was postponed, event which every February 2nd gives the anniversary of the city, the dialogue of prestigious lovers of history, heritage and its cultural values.

In the preparation of this great event, our department is in charge of taking care of every detail, not only of the different galas and awards, but also of the preparation of scripts, decoration, receiving the delegates and then offering timely news about each event.

In those days prior to the event, the office located in Maceo 61st High, becomes like an anthill, bags, papers, new orders come and go and you have to be dressed for the occasion, because the glamor that distinguishes Camagüey women cannot decay while waiting for visitors.

Enjoyment

They are arduous days that accompany each event, but if something rewards us is the enjoyment of what we do, I dare to say that we are all in love with our work and there is cooperation between colleagues, because we have a makeup artist, a playwright and several photography fans, who do not miss the opportunity to carry out their double career.

We like to laugh together, have a drink at the end of the day to rejoice if everything went well and motivate that multifaceted light of almost everyone, to multiply and grow at work, because the Office never sits back, although the current pandemic postpones our dreams, we are still busy waiting for the opportunity to return to normal and that each message of love for heritage, arrives with a creative and pleasant voice and image.
