On the occasion of the celebrations for the 204th anniversary of the granting of the title of city to Villa de Santa María del Puerto del Príncipe and the 25th anniversary of the creation of the Office of the Historian of Camagüey city, the collective photographic exhibition 12 was premiered in the Fidelio Ponce gallery.
This exhibition collects snapshots of professional and amateur photographers; seeks to give visibility to the wealth of heritage religious architecture in the city and motivate its preservation.
The name and composition of the exhibition is a tribute to a date as important for the city as the granting of the title of city, as well as to two significant events in the history of Cuba. Likewise, and taking into account the chosen theme, it evokes such well-known biblical events as that of the twelve Apostles who accompanied Jesus.
All these references, regardless of the nature of your ideology or individual beliefs; they are united by a core substance: the importance of unity around a cause and the strength of convictions to fight for it; such as the defense and preservation of heritage.
In the words of the catalog, Dr. Hery Mazorra Acosta prevails that in “12” you can find the most diverse expressions of photography with works that range from the interior intimacy of churches to the strong connotation of these buildings on an urban scale.
For the third consecutive year, the Office of the Historian is included in the photographic November exhibition schedule with “12”, an exhibition that seeks to highlight the city and its cultural richness.
