The living room of the house opened its doors decorated and festive, perhaps that was when that child was born, a promising star of Cuban medical sciences.
In this way and with a theme song dedicated to his work, in the voice of Andy Daniel and created by José Días Romero, it began the tribute to the 187th birthday of the doctor from Camaguey, Carlos J. Finlay and to the 18th of the project that today hosts his birthplace.
The director of the institution, María del Carmen Pontón Guillemí, when welcoming medical students, professors and directors of the Office of the Historian, asked for a round of applauses to honor the recently deceased Dr. Odila Lourdes Quirós, a teacher for generations of doctors; for whom the house was her favorite place during the examinations to intensive care specialists.
The scientific workshop dedicated to “Professor Odila” and the review of Finlay’s work filled up the agenda of the day, where the eminent researcher, very present in these times of pandemic, is remembered. A tribute to his example is, in addition, the progress of the Sovereign 01 vaccine, at the Immunology Center that bears his name, which will put an end to COVID-19 return the light to our lives.
A wreath along with the painting of the discoverer of the infecting agent of the Yellow Fever was the highlight of the day, which is dedicated to continue exalting science and health from Camagüey, under the light of Finlay.
