The summer of 2022 was a real challenge for the Office of the Historian of Camagüey city and its desire to maintain the grid of activities that characterize the institution during the months of July and August.
This summer was mainly marked by new content on social media and the popular summer tours, with more than five different routes, some of them for the first time linking actors from the creative circuit of the Arte Plaza project.
Heritage inside
“We had to adapt some routes such as “The Agramonte Route” because we could not reach Potrero Jimaguayú, but people enjoyed it, there were also new routes such as the one that visited the General Cemetery Interpretation Center.
“We must be very grateful to the different people and institutions that collaborated to carry out some routes, such as plastic artists Joel Jover, Ileana Sánchez, Eduardo Rosales, among others, who opened the doors of their galleries to the people who participate in pedestrian routes; also to the churches because one of the activities preferred by the public was the visit to the catacombs. In general there was a great acceptance on the part of the Camagüeyan family.”-Comments Caridad González Edwards, director of the Cultural Heritage sub-directorate of the Office of the Historian.
The summer workshops were also a successful option and very liked by the youngest members of the family, as they dealt with various topics such as pet care, first aid, origami making, visual arts from the Smart Classroom, Spanish dance, heritage, rumba and punto; as well as oral narration, handicrafts, photography, models and the Communication of heritage.
This summer 2022, despite the limitations with the electric service and transportation, the workers of each of the institutions attached to the Office of the Historian looked for alternatives to provide options to the whole family, always with the goal of linking heritage with learning and entertainment.
