At the gates of the Symposium

2021 begins and with it a whole work agenda committed to the task that motivates us to preserve and enhance the cultural and heritage values ​​of the city in which we live.

January will be a hectic month due to the proximity of the celebration of the most important event of our institution, in the first days of February.

This fifteenth edition of the Symposium Challenges in the Management and Administration of Cities, which will be celebrated this year as a National Workshop, and  like always, will be held on February 1st and 2nd.

This year the central thematic axis will be The heritage city, sustainable, inclusive and resilient, an issue that will open the dialogue to develop sub-themes related to urban management instruments for the sustainability of historic centers. Urban policies, plans and legislation. The habitat, and the uses in the historic centers; as well as new technologies and social participation in the success of a sustainable urban development.

As every year, this event is called by the Municipal Assembly of People’s Power and the Office of the Historian of Camagüey city; also coinciding with the forthcoming 507 founding anniversary of the town of Santa María del Puerto del Príncipe, on February 2nd, 2021.

It also coincides with the “ALARIFE PUBLICO FULGENCIO ARAMBULA” Award, granted to people and institutions that in the areas of architecture and urban planning make an outstanding contribution to the safeguarding and protection of the Historic Center of Camagüey city.

The Symposium Challenges in the Management and Administration of Cities has become one of the most important professional experiences that are carried out in the country on the preservation and management of heritage.

On this occasion, due to the epidemiological situation, it will be held in the form of a National Workshop, with the online participation of the representatives of the Network of Offices of the Historian and Curator of the heritage cities.
