The hero of the Republic of Cuba, Antonio Guerrero Rodríguez, brought a special gift to the Office of the Historian of the City of Camagüey, for his 25th anniversary.
He gave us the presentation of his book, Nunca habrá soledad para ti, a compilation of 40 letters that he and his mother, Mirtha Rodríguez, exchanged during the 15 years of his unjust confinement in the United States, for fighting terrorism.
The letters are full of optimism from a loving mother who blindly trusts the innocence of her son. As Antonio told us, the merit of the epistolary is in the love of the family, which represents that of any of the Cuban families, and its important role in the face of difficulties.
The presentation
In charge of the Union of Historians, in the voice of its president in Camagüey Ricardo Muñoz, the exchange of some poetry and texts flowed, moving the auditorium, which was able to enjoy the poem Cercana Estrella, dedicated to his land and in his own voice, which ends asserting that there is no death when the cause is valid.
With the retribution of all, for the gift of the Hero to the City, the formal part of the presentation ended, where Muñoz, on behalf of all the countrymen, thanked Tony “for teaching us to be better Cubans.”

After the presentation, the sale of the book began and we all wanted a dedication in the author’s own handwriting, so I waited in long line for my turn.
Already facing Tony, one of our five heroes, who awaited unfair and long sentences in prisons in the United States, for fighting terrorism, I remembered a radio program that I wrote and directed for several years, as part of the world solidarity campaigns, which were conceived to claim the freedom of the five: “Beyond loneliness”.
The last program we broadcasted was on January 3rd, 2015, to say goodbye to the audience that for 14 years accompanied us from solidarity, to give voice to the stories of these 5 men: who carried with dignity the sanctions they were given, for the only reason to fight terrorism.
At that moment, several feelings overwhelmed me, I was moved to be in front of that brave man, so close, and at the same time I thought that this book that he gives us will give an answer and culmination to my program.
The dialogue
So I told him about the program and asked him to make a special broadcast with them back to their lives, after 8 years, because we only finished the program with the good news that they were finally returning to the Homeland, on December 17th, 2014.
Finally he dedicated the book to me and I was able to clear my voice among so many emotions, to thank him for his teachings, for sacrificing his youth and years of freedom, in carrying out his battle against terrorism.
With that simplicity that characterizes Cuban heroes, he told me that he was the person who should say thank you, that we would gladly stay in touch to record the program.
This chronicler had a special day, that’s why I assured you that thanks to the text ” Nunca habrá soledad para ti “, which made me get closer to Tony, my radio program will have all the answers and you will be able to enjoy it.
