The Camagüey Railway Museum is one of the most relevant and attractive places in the city. Inaugurated on February 25th, it has received a little more than 2,160 visitors to date.
Among the recurring spectators who attend the location, children, young students and locals amazed by its novelty stand out.
Considered a chimera, the project materialized with the objective of recovering the railway and industrial culture that characterized Camagüey in ancient times and also, saving from oblivion significant locomotives in charge of sugarcane distribution throughout the Island.
Feedback with the public
The presentation has had a very positive impact with the passing of days. The interactive conception and the rescue of exclusive Canadian machines from the seventies stand out, as said by Roger Reinier Mariño Martínez, a member of the Cuban Railways Hobbyists Group.
We are in front of a unique design where the public can explore a new world through didactic forms, very necessary and creative in the audiovisual era. Through innovative technologies, the visitor has the possibility of making a virtual visit to the different railway stations and stops.
Railway heritage hand in hand with technology
It is a perfect space for mental recreation; it respects the idea of the traditional exhibition but incorporates attractive modern methodologies for everyone. Augmented reality techniques of the steam locomotive are expected to be added in the near future.
The acceptance can be classified as excellent by the people who have visited the establishment, especially due to the strategic renovation that was given to the old train station and the original way of safeguarding our heritage.
