The life of the Cuban doctors who stood out in the wars of independence is always of great interest, such as the case of the outstanding doctor from Camagüey Eugenio Sánchez Agramonte, Brigadier General and Chief of Health of the 3rd Corps.

He was born in Puerto Príncipe, Camagüey, on April 17th, 1865. Brother of Brigadier General Armando Sánchez Agramonte and Colonel Benjamín Sánchez. In 1895 he was chief of military health. He accompanied the invading column to Pinar del Río.

He dedicated himself to functions other than health abroad entrusted by the president. In 1898 he was again appointed chief of health. He was one of the 9 Cuban generals invited to the US for the change of power. In 1913 he was elected Senator, Secretary of Agriculture in the Menocal government. He died in the city of Havana, on March 8th, 1933.
