It is a daily task for the Office of the Historian of Camagüey (OHCC) to preserve the historical memory of the city. It includes those childhood memories, family visits to places that are an essential part of life experiences, what we are and what we transmit to a new generation.
For this reason, communication is another area that, from here, constitutes a fundamental way to safeguard the cultural values that make us unique in the world. In this sense, Audiovisuales Príncipe, for example, came as a medium in which different specialists work based on the heritage of Camagüey.
In a special way, today that we celebrate Cuban Press Day, the work of journalists from this group stands out, who use the potential of each media to analyze and share information related to Camagüey city.
Thus, from Radio Príncipe heritage is thought with sounds and effects that have space on the Havana Radio station or on the programming grid of the province, through Radio Cadena Agramonte and Radio Camagüey.
In the same way, it happens with the collaborations to the Information System of the Cuban Television or the journalistic materials that are published on the website of the Office, to which are added the specialists of the various institutions that make up the OHCC.
As an initiative of a work practice, the production of podcasts arose, another way to bring curiosities, legends or life stories of emblematic characters from Camagüey to users.
But the Office of the Historian and the city would be incomplete without the work of the territory’s media and national correspondents, aware from the beginning of the power of the word to raise awareness and disseminate actions that involve the population as protagonists of their environment.
The press then has the opportunity to tell these stories of the city in a more dynamic way, and use dialogue as the most effective method of being close to people and their relationship with the land where they were born.
