From the Cuban fields the seed of love for the Homeland was sown and germinated. There are innumerable examples of farmers and their families who, despite the extreme poverty in which they lived, gave what little they had to see Cuba free.
From their house, their crops, and even their own lives, they offered a ray of light that would shine for everyone.
On May 17th, 1959, in the Comandancia de la Plata, the Moncada Program began to materialize for those men and women in the countryside who had been deceived by the governments and forgotten, when the leader of the Revolution signed the First Agrarian Reform Law, which pursued the objectives of eliminating the large latifundio in Cuba and handing over the land to the farmers who worked it and were not the owners, in order to start the process of agrarian transformation in Cuba.
The dedication and sacrifice of all those who put their hearts into the field was not in vain, because 64 years later, the current president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, has recognized that: «In our farmers, in their loyalty to the Revolution that made them owner of the land and subject of social transformations, our confidence in the future is affirmed.
Much remains to be done in terms of production; but the most important thing is the wishes and the imprint of farmers that are still present growing hearts.
