This morning, the workers of the Historian’s Office gathered at the Santa Cecilia Convention Center in order to pay tribute to Antonio Maceo and his adjutant Panchito Gómez Toro, on the 124th anniversary of their fall in combat.

In a well-deserved evocation of solidarity, Fidel, Maceo and those who fell for the defense, flowers were given to our five fellow internationalists: Fernando Crespo Baró, José Rodríguez Barrera, José Luis Conde, René Casas Bautista and Carlos Vicet Díaz.

And it was repudiated in the name of all workers of this institution in charge of preserving the heritage in Camagüey, the bribes, the attempts of terrorism, the sabotages to our dignity, the revolutionary process and its leaders. Reaffirming that Cuba, like its flag, will never be a mercenary, nor will it negotiate its principles.

A tribute with art

The children’s duo dance of the Rumba y Punto project, destined to honor all the internationalist heroes who died in the line of duty, liven up the morning session, which was followed by two audiovisual materials; the journalist tells the story about the first person from Camagüey that lost his life in Angola: Rolando Ricardo, the second summarizes the combat of Cuito Cuanavales.

At the end, the code of ethics was signed by the cadres of the Historian’s Office, with the certainty of not giving in to the threats of enemy groups of our social project and perpetuating pride in our flag.

The Bronze Titan also had flowers on his bust, located in the Antonio Maceo square, where the deserved tribute was paid to him.
