Gertrudis Gómez de Avellaneda, the restless girl, the young woman ahead of her time, the woman who fearlessly and with all her talent earned a place in the Royal Academy of the Spanish Language, La Tula, who wrote Sab and spoke out against the slavery that her island lived through. That controversial, feminine, sentimental woman; but at the same time pure courage touched my soul since I was able to read some of her poems.

On February 1st, 1873, she left for posterity at only 59 years of age and her debt to her defining figure remains enormous.

Beyond the researchers and veterans of the lyrics that have paid tribute to her on our website, we dedicate several posts that make her present throughout the year; today we make them available to you to continue beating strong together with the woman of volcano and flower that is impossible to forget: our eternal Peregrina.
