It is precisely 13 years ago that in Maceo street, formerly Mercaderes, the Office of the Historian of Camagüey city carried out a rehabilitation and revival project.

Perhaps many have forgotten how it looked at that time, accustomed to walking through the pleasant surroundings of the two most important irregular commercial arteries of the old urban center of the former town of Santa María del Puerto del Príncipe.

More than a decade after the intervention, the commercial, cultural and tourist centers that are located between Maceo and Solidaridad squares continue to exhibit the aesthetics and service that the public deserves.

To the satisfaction of the Office of the Historian, the institution’s Communications Department has as its headquarters a place located on the top of the famous Coppelia creamery. There, the communication of heritage is the primary objective.

Maceo Street preserves its history and design. The forges that it has are allegorical to the drawing of the sidewalks. On the pavement the presence of the Shield is distinguished; Furthermore, they did not forget to play with the characteristic that Camagüey has of being the City of Waterpots and churches.

Modernity and history continue to embrace each other to make our city the pride that is defined when we say: I am from Camagüey!
