Throughout the year certain days are dedicated to dates, events, trades, professions; and we could not miss one dedicated to such an important issue and what we all become on a daily basis, I mean the pedestrian.
On some occasions I have confessed, through this very site to which I frequently write for, that I have not known some of these dated, and this is one of them; I did not know that every August 17th it is dedicated to those of us who walk on foot.
Work of tireless experts
And it is good to know, because perhaps what some do not know in depth is that there are many specialists who dedicate a good part of their time and work to researching the issue of pedestrianization of the Historic Center, an issue that has been led, almost every time, by the team of excellence belonging to the Subdirectorate of the Master Plan, attached to the Office of the Historian, together with the collaboration of many other organizations that contribute to the subject.
Of course, as part of the strategies that have been carried out in our city, which, as we also know, has the status granted by UNESCO since 2008, that part of its Historic Center was declared Cultural Heritage of Humanity; there are actions in favor of urban mobility, which have to do with a plan to carry out the pedestrianization of the city.
As we have all seen, it is being carried out in parts, counting fortunately, just to mention a few examples, with the streets: Republic and Maceo, everything that undoubtedly contributes to the protection, preservation and conservation of that condition granted and which we cannot miss. ; Well, as it is well known: it is in our hands to maintain it and bequeath it to future generations of Camagüey people.
Let’s all celebrate
I assure you, since I have witnessed more than one of the lines drawn by these experts, that we must be very grateful for the work they do, since it is essential to maintain the high condition obtained, and of course, for all of us, those of us who walk through this city; Let’s be much happier and continue to enjoy our unique heritage. So let us all congratulate each other for this day and because the regulations that are so carefully drawn up and perfected by those technicians who continue to think about improving what they have achieved.
