The Office of the Historian of the city of Camagüey, together with the government authorities of the municipality of Santa Cruz del Sur, have been given the task of restoring the monument that honors those who died in the ambush of Pino III.

The work is carried out by a group of artisans and restorers belonging to the Cuban Fund for Cultural Assets, with experience in similar tasks in the General Cemetery of Camagüey.

The remains of the 33 revolutionaries who died in the ambush of Pino III and the massacre of La Caobita rest there.

The restoration process will culminate before next September 27th, the day on which 62 years of this fateful action are commemorated.
