In tribute to the first Constitution of the Republic in Arms was published the text When the light of the world grows. Sesquicentennial of the Assembly of Guáimaro, thanks to the will of Editions El Lugareño of the Office of the Historian of Camagüey City and the hard work of the Federico Engels Press. The book was compiled by Dr. Luis Álvarez Álvarez, National Literature Prize in 2017, who affirms that the volume will constitute one of the main tributes of remembrance to the first Cuban Charter, 150 years after, has been proclaimed in April 1869.
Dr. Álvarez emphasized the significance of the work and commented several compiled works, which are indispensable contributions to Cuban historiography; He also thanked the collaboration, in record time, of prestigious professionals from all over the Island.
The text contains an accurate prologue written by Dr. Eusebio Leal Spengler, in which he assures that “Guáimaro is at the base of the national republican feeling, deeply independent and anti-slavery of Cuba and it is the basis and foundation of the constitutional and legislative system of the Cuban nation”.
Due to the importance of its content, a copy of the book was delivered to each of the Deputies of the Cuban Parliament, along with a set of postcards, a text marker, a reproduction of the work The Assembly of Guáimaro by Juan Emilio Hernández Giró and a bag; allegorical supports all to the 150th anniversary of the historic Assembly, and specially designed in order to enhance the emergence and the revolutionary continuity of constitutionalism on the island.
