The Directorate of Culture, the Government and other municipal and provincial organizations and institutions are ready for the celebration; and for a long time they have made their plan, which will be carried out in systematic check-ups during that week.

From the balconies of the Government Palace, on Cisneros street, the Bando will be read, as is traditionally the case; and thus the event will be officially open. In the same way, it will happen with many activities that characterize these dates and that constitute a practice in the territory.

The People’s Power Assembly will deliver the layette to the first child born on February 2nd itself, galas of amateur artists will be held in squares and parks. The artistic groups will have presentations in the theaters, several exhibitions will be inaugurated in our galleries…

It will be the great event that the people of Camagüey await every year, and to which we attend with the joy that characterizes this cultured town that values its city and its heritage.

The Office of the City Historian (OHCC) also has its program, disseminated by the young team of the Audiovisuales Príncipe Group, a group that is acquiring more value and creativity every day through the different media and social networks.

We will hear Diana Mambisa again, waking up the people of Camagüey in the early hours of the morning of Candelaria Day, from the five points of the founding squares of this Villa.

After the special cancellation of the stamp, we will meet at the General Cemetery to pay homage to the OHCC workers who are no longer present, and left an indisputable mark.

Thus, the various cultural activities will continue and surely they will have some surprise in store for us; Well, if something characterizes this institution, it is its high degree of commitment to the community and the preservation of values, as well as the ability to systematically offer new options and alternatives for the healthy enjoyment of the population.

So, fellow countrymen, I invite you to receive and enjoy once again this week that always gives us satisfaction and pleasure. Let’s live this new anniversary of our “charming region of shepherds and hats”, as the illustrious Camagüeyan who is the National Poet, Nicolás Guillén, called it.
