For the first time in our province, the Biennial arrives, a space to confront art from the contemporary, putting on the table questions, transgressions, and why not, transfigurations.

Within the framework of this Biennial, is exhibited in the Amalia Gallery of the Cuban Fund of Cultural Assets, Transfigurations, personal exhibition of the Camagüey painter Osvaldo Díaz Moreira.  This exhibition takes this exceptional artist and at times, unjustifiably forgotten, to capture on canvas the art of the abstract, to the amazement of everyone who knows his work, even for himself, which comes to reaffirm that phrase of the great Bob  Marley when he said: Sometimes it’s now or never.

Transfigurations

It is not an artistic involution and much less an emotional catastrophe, just the opposite, it is a disturbing form of adaptation to the environment in which we move, although often we do not understand where we are going.

Osvaldito’s works, as family and friends know him, speak for themselves, they are endowed with a purified academicism that makes of the work itself a kind of living soul with real movement, outside reality itself;  all this caused by the constant search, by the artist, not only to create, but to understand the complex sketches of the human mind.

Although abstraction conceptually isolates a specific property or function of an object, in this case, the artist intuits, as a seer of forms and nuances, that something exists, that something has life, and that he is only destined to understand, and for that reason he motivates himself to be scientifically specific, not to fall into the banal and he resorts to his own experiences to deduce, like a Sherlock Holmes of the brush, these phenomena.

The distinctiveness of his work

If something has distinguished the artistic work of Osvaldo Díaz, since New Melao, through video art, documentaries, graphic caricature, etc., until this 2019, it has never been, and I dare say, never will be, As far as art is concerned, a participant of chance, he has always liked to take control of the situation, emanate new ideas and reveal new horizons.

If you want to appreciate a different type of abstractionism, do not miss this exhibition, be prepared to see a reality that does not exist but that could exist, enter into your own inner world, make an exercise between fantasy and reality, perhaps you find that these works are as a kind of therapy against irritability and despair, and who knows, everything can happen, and even you come out transfigured; remember that plastic art is also part of our cultural heritage
