The Heritage Classrooms is a project created by the Office of the Historian of Camagüey city (OHCC) with the aim of preserving the material and spiritual memory of the province, the study, research and promotion of our historical legacy, as well as the protection of the tangible and intangible heritage.
In them, students not only develop their knowledge of history, but also establish a link with the institution and what it treasures. The project includes special days taking into account commemorative dates, tours of the city and of the different identity constructions in order to reaffirm what has been studied in the classrooms. The subjects are taught by historians of our city and the own specialists of the Office of the Historian.
Educational work
The educational work carried out by the teaching staff for the teaching of history has been a fundamental link in the education of students. Thus contributing to the formation of a general culture from the historical perspective about the knowledge of the most important facts, events, processes and personalities of the economic, political, social, and artistic life of the country. Also favoring the civic and citizen development of the students to the development of values such as: modesty, honesty, dignity, disinterest, industriousness, tenacity, critical attitude towards what is wrong.
The Heritage Classrooms project throughout the different courses has had a great impact both for the students and the teachers of the different educational levels. Because it has contributed to the development of skills to work with the sources of historical knowledge.
