This Friday the Office of the Historian of Camagüey city held its Balance Assembly at the Santa Cecilia Convention Center. In the meeting, chaired by political, government and union authorities of the territory, in addition to José Rodríguez Barreras, director of the institution, the main tasks of 2022 were reviewed.
Despite the restrictions imposed at the beginning of the year due to the health situation caused by COVID 19 and the energy and economic crises, most of the areas were able to fulfill their mission and were evaluated as good, although the management of the historic center continues to be a red dot. María Carmenates Bringas, deputy director of the Master Plan, discussed how social indiscipline on the part of citizens and institutions threatens the urban landscape of the city.
Carmenates Bringas similarly pointed out that the Office of the Historian is not taken into account in the decisions made by the Commission for Changes of Uses, which contributes to said indiscipline.
She added that the Supervision and Control Group lacks regularity and thus the fight against illegalities is more difficult, while she presented examples of good practices in the sector on her own.
Specialists from the Communication Group discussed the importance of communication in all processes of the institution and the use of new technologies to reach the public more effectively.
The meeting also discussed new methods for teaching history and highlighted the work of the Heritage Classrooms project.
In the same way, the projections of the OHCC for this 2023 were announced, among which the restoration of the José Martí polyclinic stands out as the work of impact this year. Other planned actions are the creation of a nursery room that will benefit up to 15 workers of the institution and the change of the energy matrix of the headquarters building, where solar panels are installed for electricity generation.
At the close of the meeting, two groups were recognized for their work during 2022: the Revolution Square and El Lugareño publishing house. The workers Felicia Maria Arocha Valdeolla and Olga Lidia Lombida Varona also deserved special recognition for their outstanding work at the center.
