On February 24th, the Office of the Historian of Camagüey city will be celebrating 25 years of creation, an institution whose mission is the noble work of caring for and preserving the historical cultural heritage of the city.
Along the way throughout these years, there was no lack of willingness and support from many hands to make our city a space where modernism perfectly suited to the longevity that characterizes the city coexists harmoniously.
Evidently such an important date deserves a special program of cultural activities to match the celebration. Since last July 7th of the year we said goodbye, a plan of activities began to be carried out, with a presence on social networks and the media, as well as in each of the cultural institutions that belong to the Office.
All content related to this topic is available on our website, Facebook profile and YouTube channel (audiovisual materials, short reports, podcasts, interviews, spots, publications). Almost on the eve of the anniversary, there are several activities that will take place in the coming days. The Revolution Square, on the occasion of its 33rd anniversary, will open its doors after a meticulous restoration process, on January 31st.
The Office during the Culture Week
As part of Camagüey’s Culture Week, the Office of the Historian has prepared an extensive program of activities, which will also be linked to the celebration of a new anniversary; in the next few days we will publish all the details regarding said programming.
An important moment will be the presentation of medals to institutions and personalities that have supported the work of the institution, as well as to people who worked in the Office in an outstanding way. The internal recognition “Víctor Manuel Castañeda In memoriam” will also be delivered.
Our Symposium
The International Symposium Challenges in the Administration and Management of Cities, one of the most outstanding events of its kind in the country, which it is usually celebrated during the Culture Week, on this occasion, in its 15th edition, will coincide with the anniversary and will take place from February 22nd to 24th at the Santa Cecilia Convention Center.
The 24th proposes an ambitious program of activities from the morning with the act for that important historical date, until night, where the Inauguration of the long-awaited Railway Museum will take place and then the gala for the 25th Anniversary of the Office.
The Cultural Activities Plan will maintain its mission until the end of this year, with the commitment to work every day for the conservation of our town.
