What would a professional of the word be without the inspiration to educate, guide and inform their public?
The truthful news, the daring report, the chronicle that eternalizes us, the comment that denounces; all genres that converge in the comings and goings of a society that transforms like its people.
And inspiration, there knocking on doors or simply presenting itself with a city that has history in every cobblestone, square or small square.
In a city that is a Cultural Heritage of Humanity and that with more than 500 years beats strong next to each journalist to transmit its long-lived and modern essence, the work of those who preserve its heritage cannot be explained without the link with the professionals of the press.
Since the founding of Patria by Martí and up to the present; the men and women who have the task of communicating through words, images or sound fall more in love with what represents us, with that unique treasure called heritage, with the historical legacy of each generation that imprints on our city of waterpots the values that do not die with time, but flourish to perfume the days.
That is why, since the very creation of the Office of the Historian of Camagüey city, the institution has not ceased in the effort to maintain a close link with the press, so that, from the different media and formats, modern and traditional, they keep the citizens informed about the why of each intervention, of the aspirations of each project.
But journalists and the media have not only been a firm bridge between the institution and the opinion of citizens, but have also played a decisive role in educating and raising awareness among the entire population, with the aim of making clear that preservation of heritage is everyone’s task and that safeguarding it is one of the noblest tasks that can be carried out.
Not in vain the media in Camagüey was recognized with the highest distinction that the Office of the Historian of Camagüey city can grant, since they have also been indispensable pillars in the preservation of Camagüey’s heritage.
