The results of the International Video Production Contest “New beginning. New Vision. New city”; are cause for joy for the Office of the Historian of Camagüey and the young work team that knew how to make visible the heritage of the city with creativity and talent.

For the first time a Cuban city participates in the contest and wins a prize within the Organization of World Heritage Cities (OWHC). This year, in the midst of the pandemic situation, a call was made to present a new way of appreciating our World Heritage.

This 6th edition of the International Video Production Contest was aimed at two age groups: from 14 to 17 years old and from 18 to 21 years old, in this last category the production entitled “To Camagüey, my red balloon won second place , by Marianne Portuodo and the team made up of Mailen Ruíz, Maira Arostegui and Víctor Pando, along with the children Valeria Peláez and Samuel Rodríguez.

The plot of the story recreates the friendship between two children that is put to the test in times of pandemic, as well as the relationship between the city and its inhabitants who are responsible for its preservation while showing the best human values.

According to its director Marianne Portuondo “we wanted to work with children, because quarantine has been much more difficult for them and also, because since they were little they are committed to their city, the defense of heritage.”

Undoubtedly, excellent news for Camagüey, the Office of the Historian and this team of young people who showed the world the charms of our city, Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
