Culture as an indispensable bulwark of life continues to flourish in every heart committed to what is fair, human and what makes us Cuban. That is why the tribute to the cultural worker was not overlooked in the Office of the Historian of Camagüey city.
Among poems, songs and rumba, we gather to also recognize those who with their action have contributed to build a part of our cultural heritage.
The 20th anniversary medal conferred by the Office of the Historian was awarded to the architect Alexis Souto Amador, for his consecration and exceeding merits in the preservation of material and spiritual memory in the province. In addition, the institution granted for the first time the recognition Defender of Memories, to four people from Camagüey who contributed with their donations, during the year, to enrich the funds of the Archive and the Railway Museum of the institution.
The Carlos J. Finlay Institute of Medical Sciences, which granted the 40th Anniversary distinction to the Office of the Historian and its director, José Rodríguez Barreras, also joined the celebration.
As one of the most important awards granted by the National Union of Cultural Workers, rewarding meritorious work trajectories, this year, José Rodríguez Barreras, Fernando Crespo Baró, Alba Rosa Colina Morciego and Mayra Pérez Salas received the Raúl Gómez García Medal for more than 20 years of work.
While the Central of Cuban Workers and the National Union of Cultural Workers determined to grant the Status of Distinguished Collective at national level, to the Office of the Historian of the city, for its work results during 2020. Among them, stand out the Award received at the National Press Festival, the work in the fight against COVID-19 and the assistance provided to the public.
